How do I publish my web pages from my computer to my virtual server?

If you have FrontPage extensions installed on your server, you MUST follow the details below. You should not FTP your site to your server as this is likely to cause corruptions in the extensions.

FTP must only be used to upload CGI/PERL scripts to your virtual server.

To publish your Web Site using FrontPage:

  • Get an open connection to the internet via your ISP.

  • Open FrontPage

  • Open your FrontPage web

  • Click the 'File' menu button, and choose 'Publish Web'

  • Enter your web address as www.<yourdomain>.co.uk, etc. and click 'OK'

  • If you want to only send pages that have changed since your last update, check the 'publish changed pages only' box

  • FrontPage will now contact the server.

  • Enter your username and password - details as sent during account setup process.

  • FrontPage will now publish your site to the web.

Since FrontPage was created for developing web sites in the Windows environment, some features are not currently available on our UNIX servers such as ASP.  If the demand arises we may support ASP on our servers in the near future.

For FrontPage and FrontPage web information and technical support, see http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/ and http://www.rtr.com/
